Power of Terroir

Our wines testify of the unique Montenegrin area, located among the Adriatic sea, Lake Skadar and high mountains in the hinterland, creating the conditions for creating authentic, luscious wines of the unrepeatable character.

C limate:The unique Montenegrin region, located between Adriatic Sea, Lake Skadar and the high mountains, creates ideal conditions for growth and development of authentic grape varieties, from which Lavinia Wine company produces magnificent wine with unique and distinctive taste.

The Montenegrin wine region is located on southernmost point of the Adriatic coast. Proximity to the sea largely determines the microclimate of Ćemovsko polje. The influence of the Mediterranean climate extends over the wide valley of the Bojana river, all the way to Podgorica, near which is Ćemovsko polje vineyard.

There is a belief that wines are „children of the climate“, therefore their character and quality are directly derived from the vineyard. For this reason, „Lavinia Wine “produces wines that reflect their origins. Respect for the country and its history, for its vineyard and what is born of it, are some of the fundamental values of the company. Lavinia wines, which are among the best Montenegrin wines, proudly bear a strong imprint of its region.

W ine Cellarsroin: Lavinia Wine has three wine cellars.

Lješkopolje, the company’s oldest wine cellar, has been renovated and transformed into a space for aging special, limited edition of wines, a

s well as for experimental vinification. Around 100 micro-vinification’s are made per year in this basement.

Ćemovsko polje – most of the wine production takes place in this basement. It has brand new equipment and the latest global trends in production and technology are applied right here.

Šipčanik, a majestic wine cellar and former military airport, has been transformed into an impressive space for aging wine, located in the heart of the vineyard. The basement is positioned at an average depth of over 30 meters below ground. In the form of a spiral tunnel, 356 meters long, with an average width of 13.5 meters and height of 7 meters, it extends to over 7000 square meters. The temperature is almost constant and is between 17 and 19 degrees, while humidity is 80%. Šipčanik represents a real treasure for the Lavinia Wine company and all our visitors, where at any given time, two million liters of wine are left to age.
